Some lifters say 60–90 seconds keeps intensity up others go 2–3 minutes to lift heavier What’s been working best for you for hypertrophy lately

I’ve been doing 2–3 minutes lately and my strength jumps are way better When I rested only a minute my later sets tanked hard

For isolation work I keep it around 60–90 seconds but for compounds I need at least 2 minutes Otherwise the quality drops

longer rest helped my growth more than short rest Lifting heavier with full recovery beats just rushing sets for a pump

I alternate Heavy weeks = 2–3 minutes Pump focused weeks = 1 minute Keeps training fresh and hits both styles

Short rests always gas me out I recover slow so 2 minutes is the sweet spot for me My reps stay consistent

If I’m training legs especially squats I need 3 minutes minimum Anything less and I’m just surviving not progressing

60 seconds works fine for cable and machine stuff but not for free weights Different movements need different rest times

I’ve tried both and didn’t see huge differences so now I just rest until I feel ready to hit the next set with good form
