Tempo training gets pushed a lot lately Has slowing down your reps helped you grow, or did it just limit the weight you could use

Slowing reps helped me clean up my form especially on chest and back work Growth came more from better muscle engagement than from the tempo itself

Super slow reps felt like a gimmick to me Once I went back to controlled but normal speed my strength and size moved again

I like slower negatives but a normal concentric That combo helped my joints and still let me use decent weight

Tempo helped me early on because it stopped me from cheating reps Long-term progressive overload mattered more

I grew more once I focused on control instead of counting seconds Intent matters more than strict tempo

For isolation lifts slower reps work great For big compounds it just limits the load too much for me

It helped me feel muscles I used to miss but it wasn’t some magic hypertrophy trick

I think slowing reps is a tool not a rule Use it when needed not for every set and exercise
